Hyundai and Kia are the platform where we have the least to sell you, and this page exists to say so before you ship anything. As of August 2026 we have no Live IMMO-OFF coverage on any Hyundai or Kia engine module. What we do have is checksum recovery — Beta on the Siemens SIMK family, Live on the Bosch MED17 and EDC17 modules that appear in these cars — and an honest Manual flag on Delphi DCM, which means commercial tooling only and not something we automate.

That is a shorter list than most providers advertise for these makes. Below is exactly where each family sits, why the gap exists, what the realistic routes are, and the one category of request we decline outright on these vehicles regardless of price.

Four words carry all the weight in that table, and our coverage-status guide defines each of them precisely. In summary: Livemeans validated and automated — upload, the operation runs, you download. Beta means it works, with fewer confirmed jobs behind it, and we tell you it is Beta before you pay. Soon means development is real but unfinished, so do not ship the module expecting it. Manualmeans commercial tooling only — there is no automated path from us at all.

Why SIMK sits at Soon

The SIMK41 and SIMK43 modules cover a lot of ground — Tiburon, Sonata, Elantra and their Kia siblings across roughly 2002 to 2010. They are well within reach technically. The reason they are not Live is the same reason our BMW coverage is expressed per software revision rather than per model: an IMMO-OFF patch is build-specific work, and build-specific work needs verified donor pairs to prove it.

A donor pair means two reads of the same module — one with the immobilizer active, one confirmed working after the check was removed — from a build we can fingerprint. Without a pair, a patch is inference. It may recalculate to a clean checksum and still boot the module into behaviour nobody intended, because firmware revisions move code and a patch aimed at the wrong offset lands somewhere plausible-looking and wrong.

Checksum recovery is different, which is why SIMK can be Beta on that side while IMMO-OFF waits. Checksum knowledge generalises across a family once the algorithm and sector layout are solved. Immobilizer patching does not generalise even slightly.

Where Bosch MED17 and EDC17 fit

Plenty of later Hyundai and Kia engines run Bosch MED17 or EDC17 controllers, and those share a lineage with the VAG and BMW modules the same generation of Bosch hardware produced. The one-line version: once a module verifies a manufacturer signature before accepting a write, skill stops being the limiting factor, because nobody produces a valid signature without the private key.

Delphi DCM: what “Manual” means

Delphi DCM 3.x, 6.x and 7.x are listed in our catalog specifically so the fingerprinter recognises them and refuses to attempt a checksum it cannot do correctly. The status is Manual on both operations — commercial tools only.

We list gap families deliberately rather than leaving them out. A catalog that only names what a service covers is a marketing document; a catalog that names what it does not cover is a working reference. If you upload a DCM read to the free variant identifier, you get told it is Manual rather than getting a cheerful quote followed by a refund conversation.

The request we decline on these vehicles

Hyundai and Kia have had a widely reported vehicle-theft problem in the United States, driven by trim levels that shipped without an engine immobilizer at all. That history has a direct consequence for a service like ours: we get requests to remove or bypass anti-theft on these makes from people who cannot demonstrate they own the vehicle.

We require proof of ownership for any operation that touches an immobilizer chain, on every make, and we decline the request when it is not forthcoming. That policy costs us orders and we keep it anyway. It is also worth noting that the vehicles at the centre of that theft story mostly did not have an immobilizer to remove — the fix for those cars is the manufacturer's software campaign and the physical countermeasures that followed it, both of which are dealer-side work and neither of which is anything we sell.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is the right starting point for owners looking at recall and campaign status on a specific VIN, and it is a better source than anything we could paraphrase.

We do not provide emissions defeat, delete files, or services intended to bypass emissions laws. Our services exist for tuning preparation, diagnostics, repair, motorsport, and off-road use where legally permitted. Customer is responsible for confirming legal use in their location and application.

So what are the real routes today?

Route 1 — checksum repair, when a modified file will not flash

This is the case where we are genuinely the right call. Send the modified image and the untouched original together; the original is what makes verification possible rather than guesswork. Route 2 — the specialist network, for the immobilizer work

Posting a job is free. Operators with different tooling and different coverage bid on it, you pay only if you accept a bid, and payment is escrowed until you confirm the work is complete. For a Hyundai or Kia immobilizer job in 2026 this is the honest route, and pointing you at it costs us nothing but tells you something real about how we scope claims.

Route 3 — a dealer or a shop with the OE software

Neither Hyundai nor Kia appears on our remote programming platform list. We run live sessions on GM, Ford, Nissan, Mazda, Volvo, Toyota, VW/Audi and Mopar using the manufacturers' own software; Hyundai and Kia are not among them, and we are not going to pretend otherwise to capture a booking. If your job is “a replacement module needs to learn this car,” that is OE programming and it needs a provider who runs the right software.

Before you order anything, on any make

  1. Photograph the module label — the manufacturer part number and the Bosch, Siemens or Delphi hardware number. The hardware number is the strongest single clue.

  3. Read twice and diff. Two reads of an untouched module should be byte-identical; if they are not, the dump is not trustworthy and the failure will only surface after the write.
  4. Keep the original read-only with its hash stored beside it. The backup guide explains why this is the step with no recovery path.
  5. Upload it to the identifier and read the reported status before money changes hands. Live means order; Soon or Manual means do not ship.

The short version

On Hyundai and Kia we sell checksum recovery and honesty, and not much else. SIMK41 and SIMK43 are Beta for checksum, Soon for IMMO-OFF. Bosch MED17 and EDC17 are Live for checksum, Soon for IMMO-OFF. Delphi DCM is Manual on both. There is no Live immobilizer coverage on these makes today, we run no remote sessions on them, and we require proof of ownership on anything touching an anti-theft chain.
