Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-20
Permitted use
The Service is for licensed locksmiths, repair shops, and individual vehicle owners working on ECUs from vehicles they own or are explicitly authorized to service. Typical permitted scenarios:
- Replacing a lost or damaged key.
- Swapping a donor ECU after the original failed.
- Diagnostic or warranty work on a customer's vehicle with their consent.
- Personal vehicles you own.
Prohibited use
You must not use the Service to:
- Bypass vehicle security for theft, fraud, or any criminal purpose.
- Process binaries from vehicles you don't own or aren't explicitly authorized to service.
- Resell our patched files or build a competing service from them.
- Defeat emissions controls, safety equipment, or anti-tampering devices in jurisdictions where doing so is prohibited.
- Submit binaries you obtained illegally (e.g., from a stolen vehicle, or from intercepting/decompiling commercial diagnostic software you don't own).
- Use automated tools to scrape, mass-upload, or evade our anti-abuse measures.
- Impersonate another person or business.
Ownership attestation
When you upload an ECU binary for processing, you affirm that you either own the vehicle the binary was extracted from or are operating with the documented consent of the vehicle owner as a licensed locksmith or repair professional. Providing false ownership claims violates these Terms and may also constitute fraud or theft under applicable state and federal law.
Enforcement
We may, at our discretion:
- Suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy.
- Refuse to process specific binaries that we believe violate this policy.
- Forfeit unused credits in cases of repeated or egregious violations.
- Report violations to law enforcement when required by law or when we identify clear theft or fraud.
Reporting violations
If you believe someone is misusing the Service, email hello@immolocksmith.com with as much detail as possible. We investigate every report and respond within 5 business days.
